Hello,

Last night i was driving home, and I smashed my drivers side (right hand side, over here in the UK) headlamp.
Is it possible to replace the glass, or do I have to replace the whole unit.
I hope they're not expensive!!!

Thanks for the help,

Oliver

I can't answer the question from direct knowledge, but I will hope you don't have to replace the whole unit. I priced "euro" headlamp conversion for the '85SD at approximately US$ 600. I guess I'll live with the US DOT sealed-beam units a bit longer, as they're about $15. Not as sexy though...

Try a search under the topic "headlight door", there should be a number of questions and responses on this subject. Can' remember how long ago the last question was about the headlight door though.

Hi Oliver,

You can get a replacement glass for W126 in the UK, £17 from Euro Car Parts (they also quote a complete lamp at £119). They have branches all over and I've been very satisfied with the quality of the parts they supply (on SAABs and Mercs). Their national mail order number is 0541 506 506. Hope this gets you on the road without hurting the wallet too much (I should know, just had a £600+ service on my 300E - ouch).

Thanks very much. I'll call them today!
I have booked my car in for a service on monday. I have to fix the A/C, two electric windows amongst other stuff, so i'm looking forward to a nice healthy bill too!!!

Cheers

Oliver
