1995 C280 Door lock removal....HELP!!!!
Anybody know how to remove the door lock in a 1995 C280. I've searched this forum and the web but can't seem to find any info.
I've removed the door panel and loosened all the screws that fasten the latch assembly to the door but the latch assembly only moves about .25" and then hangs up. I know on the older 190 series they had a set screw in the side of the door that held the lock inplace. Does anyone know how to remove the lock in this C280? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roger |
There is indeed an allen screw inside the door. You don't need to remove the door panel. You only need to remove the weather strip at door lock cylinder height. This will reveal a little hole where the screw that holds the lock cylinder is located.

I've played around with the (Phillips flat head)screw that is in the side of the door that is hidden under the seal but all this seems to do is jack the door handle in and out. Anybody have a clue on how to remove the lock.
Thanks, Roger |
