Svc DETAILS on potential W124 purchase - help
Talked to the seller and had a long , helpful conversation with the dealer that has serviced the car.
This is a recap of what's been done to the car; 12/03 - overvoltage relay, engine harness 11/03 - fuel pumps - primary & secondary 1/03 Head gasket replacement  & 4 new tires 10/01 - mass air flow sensor 7/01 - o electronic blower motor regulator (not sure if that is one piece or its "&" regulator) o overload relay for abs malfunction o evaporator temperature sensor o front disc / pads o v belt 7/02 - overvoltage relay (replaced in 12/03 also, could it be a problem??) 12/99 - engine wiring harness  7/99 - o eng mounts - front o evaporator done  5/99 eng wiring harness ??? (twice!?! also done 12/03? on 12/03 she said engine harness, not engine "wiring" harness...could it be the same thing??) Price is good, but a little more than I am going to end up being able to spend :( ... We'll see what happens... Give me your thoughts... looks like the major problems were addressed, head gasket, evap, eng wiring... |
Hope you don't mind my reply, as it's not related to your potential purchase (although it does look like a nice buy), what are those boxes on the door panels for? Speakers?
Edit added (so I don't bump your post): Cup holders eh? Thanks |
Ask her to fax you the records so that you can review and determine exactly what has been done. Also run a carfax on the car and compare the mileage from the records to the carfax report. If everything checks out have the car PPI'ed by a different dealer to insure everything is working properly.
If having an original car is important make sure all of the serial number stickers are located in the right places. The serial number locations are shown in the cars instruction manual for reference. Good luck and great color!:) |
The boxes, I heard from someone on here, are cup holders.
Thanks for the reminder and tips, I will check the vin #'s on the different body panels, where accessible. The ppi is where I am concerned with, as where the car is located there is only one dealer and have to find another Benz shop.. and kinda doubt there is one, b/c it is a small vacation town on the west coast of Fl :( ... not sure if a huge population to warrant to benz shops in the town. Might have to have it flat beded to another town... but I felt "kinda" comfortable with what the dealer told me... she must have been on the phone with me like 20 minutes helping me out and getting info... we'll see. thanks |
ttt

I'm still curious, what is wrong with the rear bumper? Camera? or...

:D Its all there, just can't make sense of it, LOL.... more or less.
There is some things that make sense, but some don't like, R&R head, is that repair/replace I guess... about $300 parts and $900 labor... They obviously would've put a new head gasket no? |
