I noticed hesitation (slipping?) during hard acceleration
Hi guys,
Today I needed to accelerate pretty hard while driving my 16-valve. I experienced what seemed like a hesitation, but felt more like something was slipping. I have had some noise from some belts for about a month now that I will get checked. Any guess what's going on? Thanks! |
slipping????
I'd go right away to the fuel filter and replace.
You probably need a replacement anyway, and would be a good item. Had the same thing last year, and got progressively worse. Changed the fuel filter (which had years of accumulated crud in it), and noticed immediate improvements. The car hesitated on hard accel. at first, but elss so. Within a hundred or so miles, was totally resolved. I'm also in S. Florida. |
Manual tranny? Clutch?
|
I'd also go with fuel filter if you say hesitation on acceleration.
Good luck. |
Thanks for the info, guys. I'll check it out!
PS It is a manual transmission. The clutch has less than 50,000 miles on it. I only noticed that hesitation twice. Usually it's okay. |
Yesterday I just cured my bro-in-law's '98 Lancer.
It was having a bumpy idle and hesitation on acceleration. Check the plugs//cable and found one of the cables (with a built-in coil) faulty. The part cost a whopping $95 for one cable with built-in coil (there are 2 in the car - it's a 4-cyl). If a complete set had been bought, it would have cost us $190 (for the two cables with built-in coils) + $42 (for the other 2 cables) = $232!!! My set of Beru cables just cost me $48 for my Babybenz!!! Hehe... Good luck, dude.:) |
