Removing alternator pulley 450 SLC
I have to replace the alternator on my 450 SLC. How does one go about properly removing the pulley ?

Will require either a press or a puller. If you bought a new or Bosch rebuilt for your specific model, shouldn't it come with the pulley in place..

Guess I get to answer my own question.
The pulley assembly is held on the armature shaft by a 22mm bolt. Problem is, these bolts get frozen onto the shaft and one must hold the armature stationary in order to ratchet the bolt off. Quite difficult UNLESS you happen to have an impact wrench that will VIBRATE the bolt off. A guy at PepBoys did it for me with no problem, holding the armature assembly stationary by hand. That's the trick. It's all in the vibe. Steve Guilford 107 026 12 000677 107 024 12 011890 |
