I was telling a friend that I might remove my oil pan at next change to remove any sludge inside and he suggested I save the work and pour K-1 in after draining and shake vehicle. This sounds rather kooky not to mention bad for engine. Any opinions?

Also if I remove pan, how much work involved and if practical what are pan bolt torque specs?

This car was purchased with very little history and 168,000 showing. I don't want the same old trash going around inside dispite future oil changes. I am leary of comercial flushes because I have heard they can loosen too much gunk and damage an older engine. Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Roscoe

Don't do this. Just change the oil often. USe a good detergent oil.
