broken lug bolts

To all that gave advice on how to remove the broken lug bolts thank you.
After drilling the bolts for what seemed like a day I cut the wheels off and told the nitwit that put them on to get me new wheels. One or two bolts would have been worth it but working 16 hours a day I just did not have the time or energy to waste.Great forum and thanks again for the help.

I've got the same problem, been drilling for hours and now I'm ready to cut the wheel off. Where did you cut, or where would you make the cut, now that you've done it. And, what did you use to cut the wheel.

Thanks,

Are the bolt heads stripped?
Won't welding a nut to the bolt be easier than cutting the wheel?

Drilling a lug bold should not be so, lug bolds are not very hard.
It took me 5 minutes to drill a broken bold out. The trick is low revs and great pressure (and a sharp drill!).
Because they are not very hard they stretch every time a little bit when they are installed. Especially when they are overtorqued, as most tyre shops do.
When my bold broke a inspected bolds, they were all worn and had to be replaced. I was glad to find this with a tyre change and not when I had a flat.

If they all break they are very much overtorqued or completely worn, either way the guy who did this is incompetent

Too much pressure or speed and you will burn/ the metal-

Then the bit just won't cut. If they are pretty hard, you can get a carbide drill bit instead of HHS. I'd say a steady light pressure with the right speed. You can stop and clean the chips off the bit too several times.

I'm glad I have not had this problem!!! Yuck!
