I have a 1992 400E. The passenger side power seat control (bottom part of the seat) does not move the seat forward and/or backward. The headrest control and the recliner control work okay. First, can you move the seat forward or backward manually? Second, if you cannot move it manually what is wrong? Third, how do I fix it? Finally, if I cannot do it myself, what should I expect to pay at my private Mercedes shop.
Where can I order a factory owners manual for the car as well as a factory BECKER 10-disc (trunk-mounted) owners manual. Thanks for any help. Jim. Thanks for any help. Jim. |
You cannot move the seat manually. The contacts within the seat controller switch must be dirty. To fix properly, you must either disassemble, clean and reinstall your current switch (about $100 for the part if memory serves, and about 10 minutes labor) or replace it.
Howewver, try this; spray a little WD40 into the holes in the front of the switch. This tactic got mine working, and it stayed alive for nearlt a year (at which point I went the replacement route). Good luck! ------------------ All the best, Michael 500E 300TE |
