reused caliper bolt...ok???
Hi All,
I cleaned and reused the bolts that's used to fix the caliper unto the wheel carrier with the proper torque and blue loctite. Is this OK? I can't seem to find these bolts NEW in Fastlane.... thanks, |
I reused the old bolts when I did my brakes, they seemed to be in good condition. I had a new set of bolts on order with Phil at the time, but when I went to put them in the red loctite I used on the old bolts, had them in there really well!:D I may try to get them out a again in the future, probably when I replace the discs in a few years.

I believe red Loktite requires heat to dislodge.

Oops:o I used what was around at the time.

I reuse them unless they are damaged in some way. Yep, blue loctite is the stuff to use. You will most likely be able to get loose the red locked bolt if you just use a breaker bar.
Have a great day, |
I believe the recommendation to use new ones is mostly for mfgr's. liability reasons.
I reuse them after cleaning, inspection, blue loctite application & about 2-3 extra ft./lbs torque. ;) |
thanks...
Thanks for all the responses...
How do I order the bolts in Fastlane? What keyword do I use to search. thanks, |
