tightening valve tappets?

Hey guys, it seems I've been getting some very excessive noise from the valvetrain and it's been going on for a pretty long time getting slightly worse, and I just pulled the valve cover. Everything seems to be in check except I have a little play in the rocker arms. Not much play, but if i wiggle it back and forth a little i can sort of re-create the sound i hear when it's running. I think that all I need to do is tighten them up against the valve a little bit until the play is gone but I see no adjustment bolt or anything to use (I'm used to working on Chevy's). Can anyone tell me what I need to do to snug them up a little? Is there something I am missing or are they non adjustable?

Thanks

oh, and id like to add that i have a little play when sliding the rocker arm back and forth arcoss the shaft. not much really, but just enough to make a "tick tick" noise. is this normal? i figure it wont be able to slide back and forth if i tighten the valve lash anyways

There shouldn't be any play. Not sure if you can tighten them. I had a 500SEC and replaced the loose one. Not too hard to do.

well the weird thing is that it really only ticks when its warm and when it's idling under load (like while stopped and it's in drive) i didnt notice it at all in nuetral before but now it is doing it, and it's gotten louder however its still quiter in nuetral than in drive. while im driving i do not hear it, nor do i hear it when my rpms are above 900rpms or so while stopped.

im not sure what it is, but it definitely sound slike its coming from under the valve cover. the sound is kind of hard to explain, its not a real "tick tick tick" or "tap tap tap" sound, its more of a "clerkclerclerkclerk" sound, with less of a peak in noise like a tap, its kind of steady with a smaller peak.

my rocker arms really dont have any play on top of the valve but they do seem to be able to slide a little side to side between the guides or whatever they are on the side, enough to make a small noise but im not sure if its the same or how to fix it

anyone have an idea?

First make sure that it is not your belt tensioner shock bushings (bad) that is causing the noise.

Common problem.

The serpentine belt tensioner for the accessories? Well I'm pretty sure it's not that, but I will double check anyways. Thanks for the tip
