Cool 86 190e strange fuel problum

Hi to all,
My name is Stu I am a new member but I have been reading forum for a month trying to figure out what is wrong with my 1986 190E. I do have a parts car to work with. I am currently getting fuel pressure to the distributor but not the injectors. No fuel comes out of the top of the distributor, the fuel pump goes on and off as normal and has good flow. So far, I have replaced fuel distributor with a good one, two black relays and a silver one with fuse behind the battery. I have checked for vacum leaks, the only thing I have not done is change out the fuel pump and filter. There is still no fuel to the injectors. What else can I do? I read about a fuel flow test and somewhere a rubber bellows that can go bad, but I am not real sure where it is. My parts car runs good, all the parts I took from that and put on the problem car and still have the same fuel problem. Is there something that I am missing? Please help!!!

Thank you very much,
Stu

Are you saying you have disconnected one or more outlet lines from the fuel distributor, and there is no flow from them? What is your inlet pressure from the fuel pressure regulator? Note that below 40 - some psi inlet pressure, the check valves in the injectors will not open. The EHA control is designed to reduce pressure below this value under certain conditions such as decel under load.

yes i will get a pic.let me explane better.the fuel dist.has the main fuel line coming in on the firewall side.on top there is 4 small linesonr small line on the left sideand one in the front facing you as you stand in front of the car.also in front is a biger line the same size as the main fuel line.this line is about 3 inches long with like a s bend in it.on the end of that line is the fuel regulator it is gold color.you will find a small line coming off of it going back to the fuel dist.and pressed in to the left side of it is a 2inch pice of small black rubber hose from there there is the hard plastic vaceum line pushed in to the rubber one.

i found the black rubber hose to have a big crack in it.i replaced the regulator.it cames with a new black hose on it.and the 190 started right up.

i did every thing that every body said to do in past treads with no help to the car except the regulator.relays overload pump filter accumalator and the fuel dist.

all the parts are so expensive so i just got a parts car for less than all the parts cost.it is really nicer than that i repaired but it has a auto trans.i like my 5 speed.

A fuel pressure/volume test is a valuable time saver; however, when you do not posses the tools then your investment is going to be time and/or money.

MrCjames

could you explain what tool is needed and how to make the test pressure/volume you mention.

My car is 260E and I am trying to get this kind of problem solved.

A fuel pressure gauge capable of measuring up to 100 psi will do fine. You will also need the appropriate adapters to make the connection to the distributor. Some may suggest the dual inlet style gauge setup but for DIY, a single inlet gauge will do just fine, you just do little more work.

A volume test is performed by removing the return line at the regulator, connect a hose to the reg and then place the hose into a jug (semi clear). Crank the engine for roughly 30 seconds and you should have approx 1ltr. Quick and painless!
