Rear Brakes W126
I am about to replace the pads on a 1989 420SEL. How do the pins come out? Do I just punch them out with a hammer? Is there anything special I need to be aware of when replacing the pads?
Thanks. |
I'm not exactly sure about your model but look real close. If they just punch out it will be evident. Some models have little cotter pins in them before they punch out. Just remove the cotter pins prior to punching.

ATE calipers
These are ATE calipers. I see no cotter pins.

Have a Look
Have a look in fastlane at a new ATE rear caliper. The pic shows the pins, anti-rattle springs and the nuts. The think the pins go through the holes at the top and they also go through the pads.

I use a small nail to punch out the pins. takes hardly any time at all to do all four wheels if calipers are in good shape..........
