Hallo,
I own a 420 SEC (1989); recently my wife noticed some fluid dripping from underneath the right side of the dashboard, at her feet, whith the A/C turned on.... Is this normal or is there some hose disconnected?? Thanks in advance, Rémy K. [This message has been edited by cremer (edited 06-10-2000).] |
I had a car that used to do this same thing (although it was not a Benz). Did you happen to notice if it was excessively humid on this paticular day? Condensation will sometimes form on the inside or outside of your hvac ducts and this is usually the source of moisture. The only other possibility I know of is a leaky heater core. The easiest way I know to check for this is wait till the next time you notice the moisture and get some on your fingertip. Now rub your fingers together. If it feels "oily", it could be coolant and that would be your heater core. If it feels like water, it's condensation, and there's nothing to worry about. If you are still unsure try the smell test...

It could be that the drain tubes are clogged or disconnected. They are to allow the moisture to get outside the car.

I have a 93'500 SEL with the same water leak. It scares my girl friend when it falls on here ankles. Anyway do I take it to a shop or is there some easy fix under the dash or hood.
