E320, has 90,xxx miles and the records show that the serp. belt was changed at around 60,xxx miles. I am hearing a moaning/whinning noise and put the auto stetheoscope on it and it was, without a doubt, noisest on the idler pulley housing. Has anyone seen the idler pulley bearing go? Can I wait to change it the next time I change the belt out (planning on changing it at 120,xxx miles.

I have seen a number of these let go. When this happens, it can get the radiator. I would do this ASAP. We can get you OE parts for this job if needed.

You will need a new belt, bearing bracket, and deflection pulley if you are talking about the fixture that holds the fan on.

If you're sure the idler pulley is making noise, you should go on and change it before it freezes and breaks your belt.
I've had that experience on a Ford Ranger pickup, a pretty sorry little vehicle it's true, but the basic dynamic is probably the same.

Replaced the idler pulley and installed a new serp. belt this morning. There was some play in the pulley bearing. BUT I really can't tell awhole lot of difference in the noise. It is almost like a whirring sound and only shows up between around 1500 and 2000 rpm. While the belt was off I did put the stethesocope on the locations of the pulley and spun them. Really did not hear anything unusual and I am starting to think that this is just the way it sounds.
ot - replaced the front brake pads on the CRV today - 71,xxx miles on the OEM pads. Just reflects mostly highway miles. The rotors measured out fine.
