Odometer stopped
1989 300te, 179,000...odometer (and tripometer) stopped! What now? Any reputable repair shops for this? I would take it apart myself, but I would not have the correct gears, etc for the needed replacements. I guess I should trust "this one" to the professionals...but who?

If you feel capable of removing the speedometer >
then you can ship it to this place:
[URL=http://www.speedometers.com/] That is what I did with my SAAB and they fixed it for about $100. Or you can pay quite a bit more than that and have a local speedometer repair shop fix it The downside - it takes a week so you have to drive around without a speedometer and you end up having to remove and replace your dash twice (four times in my case - they did not repair it successfully the first time, although the second time was free).

Better yet...
Ping "crhenkel". He does white guages (among other colors) and I'm sure he could fix your problem. His email is CRHenkel@aol.com and his website is http://hometown.aol.com/crhenkel/myhomepagebusiness.html I assume this will be fairly simple for him. He'll clean the entire housing as well.
