Hello, I have had my 300D for about a year the engine is rebuilt, the injectors are also new ( rebuilt).I still have a pinging knocking noise for about mile when I fist start the car. After it gets to operating temp. the pinging goes away. The car runs strong with moderate smoke.
Do I have it timed right? or is it my pump?
What should the drip rate be when you set your timing with a drip tube. I have heard several versions.
Any input would be great.

When cold, the engine is not running to its potential. It is very normal to hear more clatter and pinging when cold.

I have seen this a number of times.
