I have a 1992 300TE. I cannot unlock the car from the driver's side door. The key will not turn to the left, although I can lock the car from this door. I can also lock/unlock the car from the passenger side door and rear hatch door with no problems.
Any ideas why it may be sticking? Any solution? Thanks |
You will need a new tumbler assembly. The left one will come with a new key. We can get them if needed. You will have to show proof of ownership.
Thanks Go to partsshop if you need this part delivered right to your door. ------------------ Benzmac: Donnie Drummonds 300E ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM OWNER OF MB AUTOWERKS .COM |
Try some graphite (lock lubricant) from hardware store, apply to lock and key. sometime it can free a frozen lock.

Here's a related question: I had a bad trunk lock assembly for my '84 300D, so I got a replacement from a junker in the salvage yard (which I've not installed yet, since I have no key for it). Can I get a key made for that lock, or would it be better to try and get the lock assembly for MY car from MBZ or whoever? ------------------ Matt ------ Grey/black '84 300D, 194K |
