Instrument Cluster Blinking Light
 

For some reason whenever I signal right the orange colored warning bulb in the instrument cluster keeps blinking with the signal light. (It's the one on the right side of the cluster, it's the 2nd warning light which looks like a light bulb).

Any suggestions as to what this could be?

What year and model do you own?

Sorry. The car is a 1989 300ce. Also, I forgot to mention that this only happens when the headlights are turned on.

Possibly an incorrect wattage bulb or an inoperative bulb.

The bulbs all work from what I can tell, unless there is some other bulb somewhere else that is connected through the same wiring. Do you know what the correct wattage for the turn signal bulb is ?

The wattages are all listed on the back of the lenses or on the bulb plates, you'll see the "10W" for example for a 10 watt or 5W for a 5 watt, just need to look.
You're normally better off using an MB bulb, they are rated for the wattage they are supposed to be, unlike most US or Asian bulbs.
There should also be a wattage chart in the owners manual.

PS you can also try swapping the bulbs side-to-side and see if the problem follows a particular bulb or not.

I had the burned out bulb indicator light, and I found they all worked.

And then it occured to me that I hadn't checked the 3rd brake light. You know, the one that is on the hat shelf mounted at the base of the rear window. This was the light that was burned out.

It is also a good idea to check the lights that illuminate the license plate.

I think some on this forum have had the burned out bulb indicator illuminate and all the bulbs worked. Perhaps using aftermarket bulbs don't put out the correct wattage that the system is looking for.

If all your bulbs are fine, then I'd systematically replace them with OE bulbs from the dealer.

yeah, my car does the same exact thing. It happens only when the headlights are on, too. I believe mine to be a result of installing euro's with city lights, which had to be soldered onto the turn signal pin. Check wires for fraying. I just deal with mine, but it is annoying.

Turns out that there are Orange coloured bulbs in the sockets of the turn signals. I tried to remove them, but wasn't sure if to pull or twist and so I left them alone so I don't know what the wattage is. They are definitely aftermarket.

The previous owner of my car had Euro headlights and clear turn signals installed on the car before he sold it to me. I guess he must have done some soldering too.

Your original front turn signals were amber, and the bulb was clear.

Since the previous owner installed clear corners, the bulb has to be amber to be legal.

Many guys with clear corners use clear bulbs. Why I have no idea.

The bulb needs to twisted a quarter or half a turn to be removed.

Thank you. I will remove the bulbs tomorrow and replace them with originals and check the wiring as soon as possible.

This blinking light symptom went away yesterday, but then when I signalled again, later on that afternoon, it happened again.
