While checking for vac. leaks on my 83 300cd hvac syst. I burnt my finger on a vac. valve on the inside firewall, near the defroster pot and near what looks to be a computer, it's metal, has 2 rubber vac. lines and an elec. plug and gets very hot with key on and engine off. What is it? can I test it? It is very hard to get to, I can't see a vac. source for the 2 lines.

Many of them do get hot if the key has been on for a while. IF it is hot, it is energized.
