FYI... Mercedes oil filter wrenches

Forgot to mention this earlier..

If you are using Mann oil filters for your MB, you do not need the $25 MB oil filter wrench. I purchased a $4 one from Advance Auto and it works perfectly. The number stamped inside is "76/14".

Anyone know why some M103s have spin-on oil filters when just about every other MB engine has a replaceable filter element?

Snibble, I bought a plastic oil filter wrench many years ago and it failed miserabley. I think it may have worked once but it slipped. (type used on the 300se and C280). So I ordered the Mercedes one from Phil at partshop.
It is worth it. It has bolts that can be tighted down incase it needs a firm grip. Noy made of plastic. Has worked 100% for over 2 years.

U got lucky.

I bought a plastic one but got it working by putting a hose clamp around it.
