Does anyone on the list have the schematic for wiring in the cold start valve for my vehicle. The wires disintegrated the previous owner's wiring job came apart. It appears the current is regulated by an electrical thermo switch which shares a common ground. If anyone can e-mail, fax, or explain this wiring, I'd be greatly appreciative. I've bought new Bosch K style connectors that I want to install with some new high temp wire. It is very simple, but I don't want to sacrifice any of the old wire in the process of trouble shooting.

Wiring to the Cold Start Valve and other places.
And, while you're at it, can someone describe where the wire to the cold start valve originates on a '76 450 (SE)? I have no obvious cut or broken wires in the vicinity, but a very obvious opening on the two-spade connector on the CS valve with no wire to plug onto it.
Also, green wire, under the distributor, 30 inches long, with round black single female coupling -- where does this go? Finally, red wire, with fuse and closed loop blade connector. Wire is in ribbed harness tubing, originates near master cylinder, follows cowl all the way to cruise control, then follows right fender all the way to washer reservoir -- where does this go? Any help appreciated. Joe |

Update
Shaun, it looks like you and I are on our own with this for a while. I find the electrical schematic in the Haynes manual most helpful, but I have yet to find the drawing that shows where the connections are in the engine bay.
The cold start valve is wired to the thermo time switch by two wires, and they are on the same sub-harness that comes up from the backside of the alternator. you have a brown wire going to the warm-up regulator, a black with green-and-white wire going to the warm-up regulator and a single (solid black?) wire going to the thermo-time switch. At the thermo time switch (a brown round-pin connector) though, you have three wires, and these go to the CS valve. My question for you is, where does the wiring to the safety switch originate (safety switch being the two-spade connector immediately behind the air flow sensor on the CIS body)? I know it comes from the fuel pump relay, in harness #21 (found that), but I can't find where the damn wire enters the engine bay. Joe |
