I undrerstand that MB has extended the airbag ceftification period to 15 years. Does the airbag have to be replaced when the 15 year sticker expires? For those who are not interested in spending the big $$$, is it better to deactivate the crash sensor so that the airbag does not deploy in an acident? Or should one continue driving with the expired system in place because there's nothing to gain from deactivating it?

I have never seen a problem out of an old bag. One will not deploy on its own. The only thing that COULD be comprimised would be its effectiveness.
