w201 rear knocking. help with diagnosis?
 

hi all.

2.5 16v with SLS.

Have develpoed a knocking noise from the rear of the car. everytime I drive over a bump/rutt in the road its knocks, quite load, fairly "solid" knock.

I cant seem to replicate the sound by pushing the back end of the up and down when stationary.

I have checked everything underneath the rear of the car and everything seems fine nothing loose or visibly touching anything. I recently replaced the rear anti roll bar bushes and end links and propshaft flex disk - all ok. The only way I can replicate a sound that even sounds familar to what i get when driving is to jack the rear of the car up so the rear wheels are both of the ground, then lift up with a pry bar under the wheel, this gives a knocking similar from the top of the rear shock area, bearing in mind the SLS do you think this is the bushes (they dont look too bad?!) or the SLS shocks gone bad? seems to be from passengers side more (RHD)

Any pointers appreciated

By end links do you mean sway bar links? If not, that's what is probably wrong.

by end links i mean on the end of the anti roll bar is a link bar that drops down to the suspension arm, these have been replaced. are these what you mean?
