Hey, been a long time... having some issues with my
'94 S500, both involving electrical issues. I searched for relavant topics and got some good information but I wanted to provide some more details to see if any of the resident masterminds can help!!!
1) specifically in cold weather if the car sits for 48 hours or so, the battery drains and I have to jumpstart it.
2) recently, I was rear ended and had to put the car in the shop (by an SUV so it pushed my decklid in and I had to get a new lock set...lock had to come from germany...got stuck in customs, car's been out for a month)
After they finished the bodywork and tried to start the car, it would not start, but all electrical systems came on ok. I read up on K38 lockout relays and starter solenoids etc...they swear they tried everything (he is a family friend and does benz repairs along with the body work operation) and I was told that they just got wiring diagrams to find out what the issue is.
I was told that they were able to start the car from the starter itself, but not from the key position 3
They tried to start it in neutral to no avail.
Are there any issues with MB's or 140's in particular where if the car is sitting for weeks with the battery possibly dead? I was thinking it could be something with the anti-theft system not having any juice at all and it resetting. I'm at wits end and if they don't figure out the problem he's talking about towing it to American Service Center (MB dealership in northern VA) and we all know that how much that will cost, because they have the proper diagnostic equipment. I can only imagine how much that's gonna cost.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide...
