I've searched through the forum, but I haven't seen this question addressed. Specifically, when is the recommended time to check these parts for replacement? I have a 94E420 with 65,000 miles, oil changed every 3000 miles. No noise yet. And what about the tensioner?

The only engine that had a timing chain inspection requirement was the 1984-87 M102 in the 190E 2.3. Most chains will last 100-150k mi. If the tensioner fails the life of the chain can be cut in half. If you hear a rattle w/starting then have the tensioner checked(replaced).
