Hard to start 300TE
I have a 88' 300 TE, with 124M on it. My O2 Sensor went out and was replaced. The plugs were fouled and replaced, After it was replaced my milage went way up like 21 22 in the city. I can't beat that with a stick. My problem is that is has become very hard to start. When cold it cranks for a few times and starts or not at all till you put the pedal to the floor. If you shut if off and restart it right away it will start right up. If it sets for any time it will not start right away. If you put the pedal to the floor it will start but have a very ruff idle for a few minutes. The fuel injectors were cleaned, plugs replaced, new cap, rotor, plus wires, and it is not the fuel pump.

Has the fuel pump relay been checked or replaced? A relay going bad can produce this symptom until it completely fails.

Thanks Ed
I just got my fuel pump relay yesterday put it in last night. But we started a new problem. Now when you let off the gas pedal the Rpm's go up to 1200 till you put it in neutral and it will go back down to about 500-600 Rpm's. It is also surging when your going down the road not real bad but enough to feel it. ????? Chip |
