Are there any special instructions to this? I noticed a slight leak on the top hose(from radiator to thermostat). The leak is where the hose meets the radiator. The hose has expanded due to heat and is probably about time anyways so I replaced it.

I am surprised the dealer in the 60,000 service did not notice this.

The question is this, there is still a slight leak in the same area. Do I have to do something special to fix this?

Thanks,

Do it like we do when we inspect steam boiler pressure parts. Look for something cracked in the area of the leak. On the boiler all you do is properly prepare it and weld it up using a certified procedure for the material and type of weld you will make. On your car it could possibly be as bad as having to replace the radiator.

I am not sure, but It looks like a leak from the hose, where it is meeting the radiator. I am wordering if there is certain way to clamp the hose. May be too much torque on the clamp or something.

I have seen many early 300E and 300D (W124) MBs with a broken upper radiator neck. The replacement radiator has a metal insert inside the hose connector. If your radiator does not have the metal insert, replace the radiator or take it to a radiator shop to replace the tanks. Whenever I buy a used W124 MB, that is the first thing I check after the engine is at room temperature the first time in my garage.

Yes, I would check that upper tank. I have seen them kill engines.

The dealer didn't want to scare you.

I did check that when I replaced the hose. It does have the metal ring. I really doubt a leak but you never know. I think it is a problem with the clamping. don't ask me why. should I be placing the clamp near the tip of the opening where there is a little raised ring to help hold the hose in place?
