Check engine light
 

When I pressed my cigar lighter in today the check engine light went on. Is this possible?

Well, possible yes, but I would say only a coincidence, doubtful it is related.

Al, check that gas cap again. Give it about 20 key cycles and see if the CEL goes out. Jeff

I am correct in assuming the check engine
 

light is mainly for pollution problems and the components related to? A bad cigar lighter isn't going to set off the check engine light.

Thank you I am going to re tighten the cap today, thing it is safe to remove the MAS and take a look inside?
