What is the "Special Tool" for the "Radial Sealing Ring"?

I repacked my front wheel bearings and there is a grease seal on the inner bearing that distorted when I drove it in. It wouldn't seat and is, I think, destroyed. I used a big socket. What is the special tool?

My special tool for seating the seal is an appropriate sized socket from my 3/4" drive set accompanied by an dead blow mallet. The trick is that it has to be the same size as the seal and driven in gently.

seal driver

go to the auto parts store and buy a cheap set of seal drivers---or- cut a short length of a good 2x4 --long enough to lay across the seal surface. Tap it firmly, rotating it around the seal until the seal is seated. Oak works best, but pine is OK too--lots cheaper and easier to find.

I simply drove it too far...

Since it was my first time I thought it would seat deeper but the radius on the ring is above the flange. I repacked the other one, used a part from my ball joint press, put it in a one ton hand press and easily replaced it. It worked a lot better than tapping it but that will work if one does not beat the crap out of it on installation.
