I noticed that there is some liquid liking out from underneath the car. Its leaking underneath the engine area, and so far I only traced it driping on (or may be out of?)steering shock. I cant see anything ferther up. It is brownish in color and has a weird sharp smell. I ruled out the TS liquid by color, and it doesn't smell like oil, coolant, brake fluid or stiring fluid. What can it be? Can the steering shock be licking out? is there any other liquids in the car?

Dmitry,
Sounds like PS or Tranny fluid. Is the puddle large or just a few drops? Have you noticed any change in fluid levels? How about performance changes? Stiff steering or hard shifting? Just some things to consider while tracking down the nasty leak.... ------------------ William 76 240D (W115) - 550K miles 78 300D (W123) - 200K+ miles |

I had a recent problem with an odd-smelling fluid leak which, unfortunately, turned out to be AC oil. My evaporator sprung a leak, and oil dripped out from the condensate drain. Hopefully this is NOT your problem, too!

Steve,
Just curious but what is the year and model of your car and how costly was the repair? The AC system seems to be a problem with MBs. Phil |

What is an AC oil? How do I check it?
It seems like this might be it. It smells weird and just doesn't look like anything else ------------------ Dmitry 90' 300CE 17" Lorinsers RS90 Brulen mufler Clear Blinkers |
