window switch/ climate control lights out, parking brake light stays on: 87 300e
Today I was simply replacing one of the bulbs for the vent adjusters in my car, and somehow in the process I caused all my window switch and climate control lights to go out. I replaced the two fuses that are listed for instruments: 3 and 5, with no luck. Anyone know what happened? Are there more fuses somewhere else?
Also, in an unrelated problem, when I pull the lever to disengage my parking brake, the red indicator light for it on the bottom of the instrument cluster does not go off. This is because whatever pushes the brake lever forward to disengage is not pushing it forward all the way anymore, making it seem like the brake is still engaged. Is it pushed forward by a spring or something? Is there anything I could tighten to make it so the lever comes forward all the way? Thanks in advance for all replies.

There may be a fuse on the back of the instrument cluster, this may be a good place to start. It resembles a bulb but it is red in color.
If the brake lamp goes out when you lift the brake pedal slightly it may require a new main brake cable. The nylon liner on the cable seperates and causes it to drag inside the outer housing just enough to keep the pedal from reaching the stop. A rather involved repair if it is indeed the culprit. |

Is the emergency brake an urgent fix in that case, or is it something I can just ignore until I replace the pads in a few thousand k's?
I read a post where someone used a specifically bent hanger to remove the cluster in a w126, I think it was. Would i do the same thing? Also, how difficult is it to get the needles of the speedometer, clock, etc., because I am partial to the replacment white backrounds for the cluster that are always for sale on E-bay. It's not worth it if it is a real PITA, though
