Stripping lower oil cooler threads

Years ago the bottom oil cooler hose I removed stripped the threads on the cooler, ended up buying a used replacement cooler. Again on another car ("84 300D) I need to remove the bottom oil cooler hose. The top hose did break loose but the bottom will not. I thought maybe I would heat the connection to break it loose before stripping the threads on the cooler. Any Ideas?

Found no information to keep the threads from stripping on the oil cooler when removing the bottom line.

I just did this on my SDL. The oil cooler is aluminum and the fittings are steel, not a good combo. But at least the new Mercedes fittings are aluminum. I tried heating mine witha tourch until it was red, it didn't work.
