Yep, with proper maintenance that's about when it will loosen up enough to really run good.

My "low mileage" 103 engine seems to be getting better every day, only 268,000. I expect to match your breakin mileage milestone before too long.

Enjoy,

No secrets really, I try to keep up on the little stuff since I managed to get everything working, regular oil changes & PM and plenty of driving. Just keep chasing the headlights without fear or worry. I would have no qualms about jumping in the car and driving it back to California tomorrow. Oh yea, give her an occasional full throttle romp...don't want the tach needle to forget how far up it will go

If things keep going as they have the past 6 months I will log a little over 20K miles on her this year. I am rapidly approching the next tranny service and brake fluid flush.

In about 400 miles, I will hit 200K miles as well.

What mileage award are you all referring to?

I just passed 215,000 miles on my 88 300TE. MBUSA gives out high mileage awards for 250, 500, and 1M km. Just call MB customer service and they will send an application. You take it to the dealer who verifies the mileage. You return it to MB and in a few weeks you will receive a grill medallion and a certificate.

There is also the 500K km award (310,700 mi).

Try a search on "awards" or "mileage awards" you learn more than you'd ever want to know.

I am in the club.

Going....

Going....

Gone....

My odometer numbers did not align properly until after about 5 miles.

Will I get one badge or two (the one I missed at 155,000)?

If you apply now you will receive the 250K km badge, the one you should have gotten at 155K miles. Congats on making to to 200K! I swear the 560 is running better than ever, in fact I just did a repeat of the 1,200 mile weekend drive and turned better than 20 mpg on the return leg, bringing my average for the trip up a couple tenths of a mile per gallon.

Funny you should say that. My car is showing an overall sense of well-being and serenity (knock wood). Seems that by 200K miles, we have pretty much fixed most of what's broken and wrong (or have learned to ignore it).

Right now, my only pending fixes are non performance-related: Blower Motor brushes, rear window regulator, and sticky front door locks.

Performance-wise, however, I have to agree that she is behaving better than usual.
