Fan blower fuse keep blowing on 420sel
 

My 86 420 sel is develop a blown fuse for the fan blower each time I use the high setting especially in hot condition in Texas. How do I repair this?

There is an upgrade kit which moves the fuse out of the fusebox and ups it to a 30amp strip. Cost is under $30 and only take a few minutes to install. Should be able to get the kit from FastLane.

My 86 300E had exactly the same problem. The fuse kit is simply a band-aid, but it works for awhile. The fuse is blowing because of excessive power draw (duh) as the blower is not turning freely from age and wear. My eventual fix was to replace the blower motor ($150 on ebay) and install a 30 amp circuit breaker (from AutoZone, $7) outside of the fuse box. It has worked flawlessly.

Part number for the upgrade kit is 126 540 30 13.

TOO MUCH AMPERS THROUGHT CIRCUITS
 

May be too much ampers throught A/C electric circuit. Please, check the 0.2 Ohms Ceramic resistance.

It could be the cheapeast way for solving your problem.

I'm not sure of the cause but blowing the fuse for the blower during high temps, or when the blower was set to high for extended periods was common with the 126's. The repeated blowing of the fuse eventually melts the plastic of the fuse box rendering the fuse useless. This was so common that the authorized MB repair was to instal a remote 30 amp strip fuse which is attached to the bottom side of the fuse panel and mounted to the fender liner. The part number I provided is for the MB repair part. Direction on installation have been covered before.
