Thanks Andy Day,

I was planning to ask in this forum whether anybody knew of a good garage in Dubai, but never imagined somebody would be able to answer this. You have really made my day.I have put in a lot of dirhams into this car and never really got its worth back.every weekend i am at the garage to fix something. I have been going to small garages in sharjah and dubai.
I am just going to sign off and call this no you suggested. Thanks once again.

You are most welcome, just let us all know how it goes. As you know it is far too hot here at the moment to do much work on cars myself. I have been using these guys ever since they set up shop more than 10 years ago and they always do good work for me, I am sure they can sort it out for you. You have found probably the best site around for MB enthusiasts, a really great bunch of people who have shared heaps with everyone, good luck again !

kk9,

Here in the usa, shops might work a little difference. If a shop replaced the evaporator, that should be due to a leak. They should properly leak detect the system.

Here we would take the car back and tell them the repair did not fix the car. At the dealership level, they would with some discussion be picking up the bill.

Got the car to "mercedes r us" and they were very quick to diagnose that the alternator was faulty. It was showing a current output of only 2 amp without load whereas they told me it should show 20 amp or a minimum of 8 to 10 amp without load. he also told me that the battery was good and it showed a voltage of 12.5V.

He also mentioned that rpm was low and that he could fix it later or maybe when the alternator is fixed rpm would get back to normal.
But first i am going today to get my alternator replaced.

The a/c is cooling very well now, only problem is that the recirc button goes off after some time. hoping this problem also dissapears once the alternator is replaced.

Will keep you posted .

Thanks,

kk9

Thanks once again Andy Day,

I was under the impression it should be on till you shut off the a/c.
This is mainly because, I don't have a owners manual.
I have read a lot of posts on owners manual/ Cd.
Which is the best buy for my type of car and should i go for a service manual or is it the same or a CD.
I am confused. Also can you tell me where is the best place to get it from.

Glad it is sorted but without getting into a big one to one on line, you can e mail me using the private mail address if I can help any more. I bought the 2 service manual library CD's, Phil at the Fastlane has them and I bought an owner's handbook from the main Gargash Service Centre in Rashidiya. The 124 handbook they do covers almost all the models and will certainly do your 300CE, give them a call on 04-2860777 and ask for Dante in the parts department. I think they will charge you about DHS 70 for the handbook, plus a few weeks wait.
