Everyone Please - 3: Tail Lights
This thread concerns:
3: Tail Lights I have seen several aftermarket products out there regarding tail lights and again I personally like to stick with OEM or Hella or Bosch. If anyone can offer info on this subject, it would be greatly appreciated. I would especially like to know part numbers. Here are some pics of some lights that I have found: Pic 1: Here is a HELLA Black. Anybody have part numbers? http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella8.jpg Pic 2: I love this car! I believe these are the same. http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella18.jpg Pic 3: Are these the same lights under different lighting: http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella9.jpg Pic 4: Who makes these? http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/amg1.jpg Pic 5: These look the same as Pic 4 http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/amg2.jpg Pic 6: These are my favourite http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/amg4.jpg Pic 7: These look like Pic 6 http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella17.jpg HELLA part numbers: Smoked:2VP 004 686-151 Left with reversing light and rear fog lamp Smoked:2VP 004 686-181 Right with reversing light and rear fog lamp Anyone have lights with these part numbers? |
Here are some more different lights:
Pic 8: These definitely look aftermarket http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella12.jpg Pic 9: These look real cheap http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella19.jpg Pic 10: These look to be of better quality http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella20.jpg Pic 11: I think they blend in nicely in that car http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella21.jpg Did Bosch or Hella ever make an all clear? |
Here are some more different lights:
Pic 9: Are these aftermarket only? http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella11.jpg Pic 10: These look like the smoked Hella http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella13.jpg Pic 11:These look aftermarket http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella14.jpg Pic 12: These look aftermarket also http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella15.jpg Pic 13: I like these. Anybody have a set like this? http://users.eastlink.ca/~lebforces/hella16.jpg |
From the myriad of pics you've presented, I believe there are only four versions of taillights...OEM US, OEM Euro, tinted, and clear.
The lighting conditions make for most of the differences you see in the pics. www.************************ carries the smoked version. Don't know who carries the clear or Euro ones... |

Select "Taillights" I just have to say that Shantas 500 is just looking BADASS in that picture:D Clear tailights really look good on silver W124's. |
Will Euro lenses fit North American assemblies?
|
Yes.
The mountings are the same. The only differences you will see is the tailight bulb holder which is a separate piece from the lenses and is usually sold separately. If you are shopping around and you here the word "assembly" then that usually means they are selling you the bulb holder as well as the lens which you may not need. A european light bulb holder does not have the provision for the tiny sidelight. The sidelight is built into the bulb holder not the lens, this is important to note. Also for the front turn signal the european lenses do not have the side reflector built into the lens. The bulb and bulb sockets are different but fit the same hole in the lens. |

LOL:D Yeah the pieces in the center and on the right sometimes come as one unit. They are different for a euro because there is no side light so there is no cut out and no extra wiring for it.
|
So if I were to order just the piece on the left from Europe and mount it on my North American assembly than I should be fine...right?
|
Yup.
|
Perfect! Now I only need part numbers. Bosch and Hella. Anyone have them?
