I have a 1983 240D. I need to replace the fuel injectors. How complex is the job and does it require special tools? I have researched some and it looks like it is take off the old and put on the new.

You are correct. The nearest thing you need to special tools are a 27 mm deep socket (I got mine from Sears) and a torque wrench.
Some might say you need a flare wrench for the steel line nuts, but the nuts can be removed quite successfully with a straight open end wrench. Not much more complicated than changing spark plugs. Good luck. ------------------ Ted 1979 240D 160,000 miles |

The Sears socket works here because it is fully broached. The one thing to be carefull about is when torquing or breaking loose one must be very carefull to stay centered with the socket. Moving it off center under load will break the fuel return nipples off the nozzle holder. (in a heartbeat)
