Dallas Area Shop?

I'm looking for a good repair shop preferably in the Dallas, North Dallas Area.

Has anyone had experience with Europa or Autoscope? If not, is there another shop you would recommend?

I'm not familiar with Europa, can't say I've ever heard of this shop.

Autoscope has a good reputation. I've only used them twice in the last 10 years - one experience was good, one bad. I had them perform a prepurchase inspection on a 300CE I was looking at about two weeks ago. They were very thorough, and invited me back into the shop to go over the car with them. Two techs spent quite a bit of time going over (and under) the car with me. I learned quite a bit about body and paint work. As well, my former service adviser from the Plano MB dealer is now working there, and he is a good guy.

My favorite shop, and I think the one with the best reputation, is Rodney Herson Automotive. Rodney has the reputation of doing everything by the book, and is quite a perfectionist. I've never had the smallest complaint with his work. For example, Rodney had to pull the head from one of my diesels earlier this year. While in there he replaced a few gaskets and fuel lines which were starting to weep, but were not part of the original job. When done he left the engine bay spotless - it was cleaner than the outside of the car! Highly recommended.

I haven't heard of Rodney Herson before, I'm curious to learn if there are others who have any experience with his shop.

If you are near the Northeast side try German Auto Center, 4849 Whirlwind off IH 35 just south of Thousand Oaks exit.
Ph 653-9889
Does only MBs.
Good AND honest family business.

******** (Texas German ********) is good but the only bad thing is they are too busy. They are always swamped and they miss things frequently due to lack of time. I took my 6.9 there and what they did they did right.

I use MPH Automotive at I-10 and Hwy 6. Highly recommended. Call and ask for Mike Haven. He knows his stuff. They work on BWM and motorcycles too.

Memorial 1 struck me as a bunch of salesman, I know nobody who has had service there. Seems like an okay place to get a car, a friend bought a 911 from them.

Not Fredricksburg, but Kerrville. There's a pretty good one man shop in Kerrville. The problem is I can't remember the name of it It's near the college, just off of highway 29. Suggest you check the yellow pages or ask around - I found it from a recommendation when my 124 broke down while on holiday.

FREDERICKSBURG, TX SHOP

Thanks for the tip. Would it be Carter's Automotive on Meadowview Lane? Someone mentioned the shop to me today but they were unsure of the address.

Yes, that's it! Carter's sound correct, and I looked up Meadowview on Mapquest - the location is right. It's just 2-3 businesses up from Hwy 27 on the right hand side, can't miss it.

Good luck,

Texas German ******** (TGA)

I recently purchase a '94 SL500 Spruce Green with 110K miles and I brought it to TGA to have it checked out for problems. Adolf was my service person and he was absolutely GREAT! They checked out my car and even steam cleaned the transmission area to determine where a leak was coming from. Also an oil change was FREE for my car! I guess that is their way to show how much they love MB's! There was no charge for the check up and a diagnosis of problems was summarized. New engine mounts, new front brakes, front strut mounts, valve cover and oil pan gaskets, an alignment and a 110K tune up were all recommended for under $2k. I was surprised by their honesty and went ahead and left the car there for the required repairs.

The lot was filled with other German nameplates but the car that caught my eye was an old Mercedes 280 SE Cabriolet 3l5 (1970). Simply a beautiful car. Since this is my first MB, I am very pleased with it's performance and especially with it's advanced mechanical technology. I have since named my car Dieter.
