MB Boerne (San Antonio, Tx)

If you need anything done in San Antonio, DO NOT GO TO MB OF SAN ANTONIO! Take the drive out to Boerne. They have a beautiful BRAND NEW dealership with all the latest amenities. Pretty much a GUARANTEED loaner for you (05 C 230K) paid for by the dealer whether you are under warranty or not and whether or not you bought the car from them. The SA's there are pretty knowledgeble and VERY courteous. My service advisor's name is Eddie and he is the best out of the three there IMHO (though you can't go wrong with any of them...there's a cute blonde one too). There Service Manager is awesome too. The techs are good guys (most of them deserters from BMW Center in San Antonio, another crappy dealership). They take their feedback seriously so fill out the survey if you get work done there.

I'll give them a try. I was not at all impressed with MB of San Antonio. I'd be happy to drive to Boerne for excellent service even though I live ten minutes from MB of SA.

I'll vouch for the folks in Boerne. My mother had some bad experiences with MB SA - Contacted the the Boerne DLR / they drove the loaner to SA swapped cars and returned it when the service was finished.

Good stuff.

Thumbs up Boerne...A great Independent MBZ/BMW/Volvo shop

My cousin lives nearby in Kerrville, and several friends with Mercedes and Volvos rave about this shop. I've talked with him to do a pre-purchase inspection, and he's knowledgeable about the old diesels too.

I do not know what they are raving about. I live in Boerne and have had my car worked on a number of times at this shop.

Cheap parts - lousy work and dealer labor prices.

The owner hires no-nothing newbies who make a mess of things. Last time I was there, they broke my exhaust manifold....cost me $248.00 out of my pocket to get another indy to repair it.

I DIY a lot, but from time to time have let him do work simply because my work schedule was too hectic. In EVERY case, I ended up redoing half or more of his work.

Stay away from this place!!!

MB Boerne thumbs up over MBSA

I second the kudos for MBB - I got tired of the piss poor attitude and know-nothing parts people at MBSA when trying to get parts for older MBs. If it isn't near new they don't care.

The customer service up north is night and day - I've had Ron White in parts poring over diagrams with me for an hour trying to find the right bushing or hose fitting for my coupe - once recommending me to NAPA for a 4" fuel line that would have been $42 special order once we found it.

I have only had them do service work once and they were reasonable as stealers go - parts were about 15% CHEAPER than MBSA too.

Plus I like to go in an touch the new cars and get free coffee

Most of the references here have been to MBB(Mercedes-Benz of Boerne). I Have bought parts from them a few times and they handled themselves professionally.

There is one post above by a womna talking about North Boerne Auromotive - not the same place. An indy I commnted on.

Yes - I would not find it hard to belive that Mercedes Benz of Boerne is better than Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, but that wouldn't necessarily be saying much for them. MBSA is terrible.

Any New Opinions on MB Boerne?

Moved down to San Antonio from NC back in April. Left behind my 87 300D, as I'd just acquired it a couple months before (to replace another 300D that was wrecked last December), and hadn't had time to go over it and get it up to snuff - such as replacing all the non-working vacuum vent actuators in the dash (gotta have A/C in Texas).

I'm considering having it shipped down and having just enough of the major stuff - such as the vacuum pods - that I don't have a place or the time to do myself done by a shop - such that it would be driveable.

Any up-to-date opinions on MB Boerne or an indy for handling this would be appreciated.

I've had good luck with MB of SA parts dept. Only service I had done was an alignment. The car pulled right at highway speeds after the alignment so I re-scheduled. They called the day prior to remind me, but then forgot to call me the day of to tell me their alignment rack was now under construction, so I wasted a trip to the dealer.

I live in Austin but take my car to be serviced by David Kehl at Kehl Motor Service & Electronic Balancing. He is about 4 miles outside Loop 410 on Nacogdoches Rd. in San Antonio. Intelligent, professional, and appreciative of older MB diesels. I wouldn't take mine anywhere else. FYI-Kehl's shop is cash/check only, and you should call ahead for an appointment--he is a one man + assistant shop and is typically booked. The phone number is (210) 655-6140.

I use both MBSA and MB Boerne. MBSA usually has more stock and MB Boerne has better prices. I use Import Auto Repair on E Bitters when I cant do the work myself. I have heard good things about Kehl as peeps on this forum like him and my Grandmother takes her car to him.

I used to work @ MB Boerne, I know Eddie and the other clowns. The only place with any old knowledge in central TX is MB Austin. Don't ask me how I know...

I'm DIY all the way but I like Horst Leinen and the rest of the folks German

Auto Center.

It's fun to go in and chat with Erick & Ruth and have coffee and a cookie.

Erick is extremely helpful locating hard to find parts for older MB's even though

the driving force of GAC is service.

Anyway, just putting a plug in for some good people...

I took my MB to this place some yrs. back after hearing about how great they are. I never met Leinen. Spoke with a person who claimed to be the service mgr. Tall/slender and completely useless.

I walked away knowing I would never come here again.
