Smart key not smart s430 2003
 

I recently purchased an s430 4matic 2003 used and within 2 weeks the key will not open the doors, and when I tried opening the door with the small key the alarm came up and the smart key will not start the car or turn off the alarm.

It happened once before and the car started after a few minutes. I told the dealer who said it could of the battery of the smart key. I replaced the battery of the key and ordered a new key but still the problem persists using both keys now the car wont start the key wont even turn in the ignition like the ignition is locked.

The car battery is good.

Can anybody help?

Having the same problem exactly with my wife's car - 2003 C230 Kompressor. Smart key and spare stopped working same day. Cannot turn key in ignition. Cannot lock/unlock doors remotely, but metal key does lock/unlock doors. Replaced Smart Key battery, no change, car battery is fine, lights work and digital voltmeter shows 13.1VDC.

Anyone find a solution for this problem?

i see i have the same problem as you had, just wanted to know how you solved your issue.

I pulled each fuse out, one at a time, to check them with an ohmmeter. After doing that, I went back and tried it and everything was fine. Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes may have worked as well.
