San Antonio MB transmission shops
Not all shops do trans. Can we get some recommendations for SA trans shops that have experience with the benz? Thanks

Access transmission on West Ave. They rebuilt my dad's tranny on his old buick and when I was there I saw two benzitos there. One was a W140 and the other a R107. They did a good job on the Buick, but I can't say for the Benzes as I don't own them I just saw em there.

Since posting this I did end up using ekg - gastons on Basse road. NOT recommended. They tried to double the original quote for no good reason. Then disavowed any liability for mistakes when they repaired it to mb specs. Additionally, after stating they had tow service in negotiating price in our first discussion charged me for towing when all was done. Of course at that point what can you do but pay?

MB Places in San Antonio
There's only two places I'd go to in San Antonio for ANY MB work.
European Auto Werks on Nakoma. Kehl Motors on Nacodoges. There may be a few others I've not had experience with but these guys know the MB cars inside and out. |
Whatever you do, stay away from a shop called C & C Automotive. The owner (Tony) is knowledgeable, but he hires min. wage goofs who will make a mess of your car.

High Tech Transmission
I had High Tech on Bandera Rd at Guilbeau work on my 83 300D back when I had it - it was completely shot at 305k miles so I bought a used one and had them swap in for me - not a real test, but it all worked fin for next 7k miles till I sold it.
I've had them do stuff for non-MB cars and they seem honest and reasonable. John in San Antonio |
