WTR 617 Compression tester

I want to do a compression test on my Gwagens 617na to find out if my loss of power is due to something internal to the engine and not the fuel system.

I am located in NW CT.

Do you have Harbor Freight locally? They sell a compression kit for < $30. I find it acceptable for home mechanic.

I do but most threads in the diesel discussion are pretty consistent when it comes to that units unpredictable quality. (Sometimes you get a good one, most times you have to return it and try again)

I have a custom compression tester (via the glow plug holes) for the 617 that works great. Injector holes require new heat shields = more work, more parts, less desirable. It is not for rent but if you come by I can do the compression test for you.

Thanks for the offer but I ended up ordering a tester (With the injector adapter) from Pelican parts. The crush washers don't cost too much and I only plan to do this job once. I just hope that I can get all the old crush washers out. The last time I replaced them one was a nightmare to remove and there was another one that we were unable to dislodge....
