This is my 2nd diesel, a 1981 300d. This car is special as it is a euro model meaning shorter bumpers, european headlights and best of all a 4 speed manual transmission.
This car is pretty nice. It is finished in Orient Red and has a beige cloth/mb-tex interior. The car is simple as it has little optional equipment. From the factory it came with a trailer hitch (lost sometime years ago), a mechanical sunroof, and last an antenna without a radio.
When I got the car it was in decent condition but it needed some fixes to get it back up to spec. The interior was decent but the dash was horrible. A member sold me a good one and I installed that as well as a new center console. The seats were cleaned and the crappy tape deck replaced with a Becker Europa LMKU.
Mechanicall it didn't need too much besides a valve adjustment, an alignment and new shocks. The engine was cleaned up and that took care of that.
The exterior and paint is in decent shape but it still needs work. The rear bumper brackets are custom and they do not line up. The right rear fender was repainted at one time and the sun has taken a toll and caused that paint to crack. Besides that and a few dents it is a really nice looking car.
Overall it is a blast to drive and a fun, unique car.
