The beginning...

Photo taken by "Boardmonger" during the W123 meet in California on April 9th, 2006. There's nothing better than cruising on the highway in a 28-year old Benz in the cool mountains and while listening to your favorite music. "I could have driven forever," I thought to myself.

Given to me by my grandma with only 138,038 miles on the clock, it needed a little work here and there. Now with 248,000 miles, it's running just as strong and stays much cleaner in and out.

It's a work in progress indeed, and I never get tired working on it. These cars are persistently lovable machines.

AnatolianGoat what a joy to look at these photos! Love your clean engine bay, how did you clean so well and all the paint looks like as if it is all brand new, I am guessing this car never had any rust issues... 02-27-2019
MBeige Thanks for the kind words Ruchase! I'm glad you like them 04-24-2013
ruchase Thank you for posting these lovely pics! 04-23-2013
JIMDOR MBeige, I plan to install the rear head rest and extended arm rest this week end; got all of the need parts. In the future, I plan install euro lights. Can I use my current amber corning lights or do I need buy them? I use planning to buy DEPO. I value your input! Thanks! James 04-01-2013
JIMDOR MBeige, thanks very much for your suggestions on how recreate the first aid cross- great idea! Every week I check out your car-for suggestions and motivation! Thanks again!

JIMDOR MBeige, in one if your pictures I noticed that the "white cross on the green background" on your first aid kit looked new. The one on my kit is almost gone; my question is where can I find duplicate; I have looked around but no luck in finding a new. Where did you find yours or is that the original? Thanks

JIMDOR

JIMDOR MBeige, thanks for the information regarding the extended driver side arm rest/that will be my next upgrade. Also, where did you get the chrome trim below your tail lights/another plan upgrade! Again, you have one great car/I am motivated to make upgrades!

Thanks

James

MBeige Davidlee, Jimdor, BenzTurbo: thank you!

The armrest is the same armrest found on the left rear door, from another vehicle. Make sure you include the chrome piece. Cutting the MB-tex is the hardest part.

davidlee Absolutely gorgeous. Love the 15" bunts. What a work of art. 03-28-2012
MBeige Thanks Booyabob, Earl Orchard and Mesalm.

Yes, this is the original color (option code 681). It's called Manilia Beige (hence my username, MBeige).

Booyabob, I had the wheels professionally restored so I don't know what paint they used. However they specifically said they would paint, not powder coat.
03-25-2012
booyabob if you painted wheels what paint did you use? 03-25-2012
earl orchard very very nice 03-22-2012
Mesalm I like the color MBeige. Is that the original color? I couldn't fine that description for that year. 09-24-2011
MBeige Thanks!! 09-08-2011
michakaveli That is one of the best w123's I have ever seen. I wished they still made today. One of these for a daily driver would be PERFECT! 09-08-2011

jloyman sweet!!! 04-02-2011
MBeige Thanks all!

Army: The valve cover came like that after I cleaned it up with some paint cleaner and degreaser. No polishing was done to the cover. I actually like it the way it is. Not too shiny unlike other OM617 polished valve covers I've seen.
10-01-2010
Army Now I have a benchmark for my engine bay clean up project - do you have any tips for the valve cover - I guess you've been busy with a polishing machine? 10-01-2010

JimmyL Your car and photography are more astounding every time I see them..... 06-15-2009
MBeige Willy, that was not taken in Santa Monica. That was just at a nearby mall parking lot that had palm trees.

Those blue plates are really nice. The rear one looks new, except for two minor scratches on the top edge, because it used to have a license plate frame. I kept the old frames (I keep all original accessory items).

Hope you like the new pics
07-30-2008
willy2004 The one w/the palm trees in the reflection, I'm lovin those sweet blue license plates 07-14-2008

willy2004 sure looks like Santa Monica beach on the reflection, beauty of a car. 07-14-2008
MBeige Turbobenz: No, obviously. Campagnolo and Shimano make bicycle wheels/parts but Campagnolo also made wheels for Italian cars. There's one in particular I like, though that was a long time ago. Check your PM, I sent you pics of what I'm talking about. 04-13-2008
turbobenz campagnolo? As in shimano too? Lol 04-13-2008

I haven't been around a while because I haven't driven the car much and didn't realize how much I missed driving it until I took it into the shop about 2 weeks ago. Now I am waiting for my tranny to be replaced...should get the car back in 2 weeks or so then I will drive it more. Do you clean your engine often? If so how? Any tips would be appreciated.. Thanks 12-27-2007
