71 280S My New Toy!
Have owned it for approx. 1 year, was in heated storage for 29 years! I have all original reciepts for services done prior to storage in 1977!, Including original bill of sale, radio booklet, 1971 warranty tag, etc...
This car is all original except for the ignition system. I just converted to Crane Cams Electronic Kit! What a difference! Purrs at 80mph and now gets 18mpg (running 93 octane)

I remember when Dad purchased his 1971 280SE, Red with creme interior. Dad hitched a pop up camper to it that first summer. Dad, Mom, three of my sisters and I headed to the mountain West from Iowa. Wow was I excited!!! I sat in the front center, dad installed a custom seat pad into the tray between the buckets for me to sit. I recall he ordered the optional rear suspension levelers because he carried lot's of samples in the trunk as a traveling manufacturers sales representative. At a campground in the Colorado mountains the 280SE would not pull the camper up the hill with its mighty load. We all jumped out of the car with other campers watching, pushed the 280 up the steep campgound drive to get it going and we all jumped back in as it started moving. I recall watching all the instruments and mostly dad traveled 75-80mph on the level and downhill, 60-70mph uphills on the interstate. I recall him checking the mpg but do not recall what that was. I
