1971 280SE 3.5 The story so far....
These are just a couple of pictures of the car with the paint actually polished, the last ones were frankly embarrasing due to the layer of dust on the car when I took them for insurance purposes. I will try to take some more soon but have been busy on repairs and upgrades. Since I got her I have;
  • Replaced the shocks and springs
  • New front wheel bearings
  • New kingpins
  • New subframe mounts
  • New anti roll bar mounts
  • Fitted a coil compensating spring
  • Replaced the transmission modulator
  • Replaced the plug wires and fitted a pertronix hall effect ignition
  • Replaced the injector seals and had the injectors 'ASNUed' (cleaned and rebuilt)
  • Serviced the transmission
  • Serviced the engine (must be at least 4 times so far in 2 and a bit years)
  • Replaced all fuel hoses, filters and clamps
  • Replaced all V belts
  • I have a full set of H4 headlamps - still to be fitted
  • I have a set of cam oiler tubes - still to be fitted
  • 4 new 'round' tyres (the originals were...intertaining)
  • New three pointed star - due to vandals
  • Decent stereo with CD, which is nice and 'chromy'

The list of 'still to do is' way too long to bore you with but we're getting there. The rear end rubbers will probably be next unless we have a major engine problem, if my car is off the road I tend to lose interest which is unhealthy.

Good luck to all 'real S class' owners ;-)

Adler I was a little confused about the amber turn signals ,but then the RHD explains it all.
The lower beam will have a small parking lamp in it too.

bgkast Stunning! 03-11-2008
Jengasan Hi JPMOSE, if you look closely at the headlights you'll see that the turn signals are built in to the clusters on the outside, the USA versions had two 'clear' lenses instead and quite large turn signals. Rather ironically I quite fancy putting the clear lenses in my car and having the new style orange bulbs behind them, just for something a little different. 12-12-2007
JPMOSE Very nice! Where are the front turn signals? 11-27-2007
Jengasan 280EZRider - basically no, she came with the stacked lights and as far as I am aware this was available in the UK, at least as an option 10-31-2007
280EZRider Spectacular! Since it's a UK car, did you replace the Euro headlamps w/the USA version? 10-30-2007
