Jimi Hendrix doing a great live version of "Hear My Train A Comin'"

Some of the video shows him riding in a nice black Finback Mercedes

Boy, I forgot how long ago that was. I guess those cars weren't that old when he was around.

It's a stretched 280S Finback - nice. Great 10min song to listen to while I was browsing the forums. Thanks for that tune.

Ummmm...no.

Taillights are not the S class taillights. S class lights were much larger.

The horizontal trim above and below taillights indicate it's a second gen finback.

The 280 (M130) engine did not become available until 68. After the finbacks were dropped. S class dropped finback with intro of W108/W109 in 1966, middle class (slash 8) in 68 with intro of W114/W115.

Likely a lang version of a 200D or a 230. From what I can see of the trunk, it looks like it has a designator after the displacement, which makes it a likely diesel version.

Jim

It's just a 200D lang, basically a taxi. It's amazing to think today that because he was black, Jimi was more famous in England and Germany ,where that was filmed, that he was in the USA. Before his untimely demise he had sold more records outside the USA than what was sold in the USA.
