I don't like any of those boxy-looking cars. This one, either.

People complain (9 YEARS AFTER BEING REDESIGNED) about Volvos being "too boxy", yet apparently there is enough demand for companies to make crap like this.

Or is there? Could be a GM type of thing- "here, sell this car, who cares if people want it or not"

I'd be cheerful to see these go the way of the Pontiac Aztek

Of course!

Can't go wrong with those 740 Turbos, or even a nice 780

The part I find most interesting is the electric motors for the 4wheel drive system.....that's pretty neat. I imagine it can save weight and complexity and perhaps make it more reliable. No ASR required.

that thing sucks worse then PBR!

I hate unibody compact suvs...giant station wagons if you ask me...ok station wagons are typically larger... I want to run them all over with my body on frame diesel suburban on tires.

I like the boxy volvo turbo wagons, at least they are made in the right continent.

KIA has one too!

I guess all of them are trying to copy the success of Scion with their little "box"
The target audience of these are 20-30 somethings who want something "sporty" but also want high MPG's.
They don't float my boat, but I do have a great liking for the 240 series Volvo's.I can't explain why I like the Sweedish boxes but not these Japanese ones.
All the manufacturers keep trying different target audiences trying to hit a "home run" I think the last time they really hit the mark was the 1st generation miata.Cheap, simple and FUN!!

Im all for function over form...My ex even owned a Pontiac Aztek that I publicly (on this very forum) touted as a very functional vehicle for a family of four, but this vehicle looks cheap, uncomfortable, and unsafe.

Success? I don't see too many, and I have yet to meet someone who actually likes those Scions.

As for sporty...I don't get what people mean when they say that. A crap box that costs $13000 isn't going to be sporty...I know they tried to pass the Scions off as sporty when they came out, but with 108 hp? 13 inch wheels (well, they look like 13") Of course, this 108 hp is backed by a similarly low number of torque. I get even more mad when people call cars "zippy" (usually referring to a Yaris or something like that)

Guh! I say. No thanks. Lol

They are all over Japan. Great city vehicles. Yes they are swapping the C pillars around for left hand drive.
