Question Where is voltage regulator on 78' 450 SL

a friend of mine is having trouble locating the voltage regulator on his 1978 450 SL, where is it located?? thanks

It should be on the back of the alternator. It is held on by two screws.

??? he is confused, he said that is not located on back of alternator, unless the part that he got from the MB dealer is wrong, they gave him part Bosch 002 154 74 06 which is suppose to fit his body 107044, engine 046577 ??? Thanks

Isn't it a plastic (?) piece with two metal prongs coming off of it?

the dealer sold him the wrong part, it is the two prong voltage regulator like you said, thanks

Is it the metal box one then? I see that there are different regulators it can have. I'm sorry, I was rtalking about the one that usually is on other MB's.

According to the dealer

the dealer says, there were two series of VR for that year and engine, so I guess they gave him the wrong part (the box type VR) the dealer will let him trade it in, thanks
