How do you mount the front plate to the bumper?

Just tried to put the front plate on and the holes are to far apart from each other.

Front License Plate mounting

I believe you need an adapter..the holes are for the much larger european plates. I'm sure any mercedes dealer would have what you need and it should be esy to find.

Or get one of those chrome tag frames - the type with the metal back that you can drill holes in to fit the ones on the bumper. You may need some long screws with lock-nuts (get stainless) and spacers (you can cut from suitable size rubber fuel hose) because of the 'V' in the bumper.

front plate mount

norbtx, when I got my 108 in Dec. 03 the PO had used a strap of light steel/alloy, like is used in some car radio installations as a backstrap for mounting or perhaps from HVAC supplies. This strap had regularly spaced holes in it and he just bent "J" shapes into either end, mounted it to the bumper and then used stainless allens to mount the plate through two of the strap holes. Its discrete and effective. Make sense?

Thanks, so there is no official MB bracket? No part number to order? I'll just leave it off for now, I don't put front plates on my other cars anyway.

In the past, I've seen some older Mercedes with a pair of wedge-shaped plastic spacers between the front tag mount and the bumper. Don't know if this is something you could still get from a dealer. Generally, I've fabricated my own tag mounts.
